Interventions

Are your interventions working this year? why/why not

Well, let's see, I have a wide variety of academic levels in my class this year, so interventions has been a challenge. I use a variety of math and language arts "games" (hands-on manipulatives, calendar math, dice games, dictionary scavenger hunt, etc.). Each group of students gets a game according to their needs. While the students are working I take that time to process with certain students (find out where they lack, behavior, briefly go over specific concepts etc.). I sit with them as a group or one on one and work on their deficient skills.
Honestly, it is too early in the year to determine whether or not interventions is working. I do know that 30 minutes for Tier 2 and 30 minutes for Math is not enough time. I also feel that whole group interevention is helpful when the class as a whole is lacking on a specific concept.
One thing is certain: I will keep trying to meet the needs of every student.
